Kinder to Year 2 Athletics Carnival

Each year in Term 2, we hold the K-2 Athletics Carnival. The purpose of this event is to expose our students to a range of track and field events that they will come across when they attend the Primary Athletics Carnival later in their schooling. In preparation for the K-2 Athletics Carnival, students have been engaging in modified field events during sport lessons.

DATE: Tuesday 6th May 2025

LOCATION: Ernest Grant Oval.

COST: No cost.

Thurgoona Public School will cover the cost of resources and equipment needed for the day, as well as a small treat for each child at the conclusion of the carnival back at school.

TO BRING: Bring a picnic lunch, sunscreen, recess, plenty to drink and a rug to sit on. There will be no canteen orders or sales on this day for K-2 students.

ALTERNATIVE DATE: If the weather conditions are adverse on this day, the Carnival will take place on Thursday 15th May 2025. Any change to the date will be communicated via the Sentral Parent Portal and Facebook.

SCHEDULE: Stage 1 students will walk to the oval at 9:15am with their class to begin activities at 9:30am, and will return by 2:30pm. Kindergarten students will walk to the oval at 9:45am with their class to begin activities at 10:00am and return by 2:30pm.

PARTICIPATION: All students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 are to attend. The emphasis of the carnival is on participation by all children. Children are encouraged to wear their sport house colour. Please check with your class teacher or the front office if you are unsure of your child's house.

SUPERVISION: Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 Teachers and Support Staff

EARLY DEPARTURE: Children going home from Ernest Grant Oval with their parents/carers must be signed out at the administration desk at the oval, where they will collect a sign out card and then parents/carers need to let the class teacher know before leaving

SPECTATORS: Parents are invited to attend the Carnival for all or part of the day to cheer on the competitors and have a picnic lunch with their child.

PERMISSION DUE: Please return the permission via the Sentral Parent Portal by Thursday 10th April.
